about:

Melissa Kaup-Augustine studied graphic arts, publishing and typography at RIT in Rochester, New York. For over twenty years, Melissa has been a commercial graphic designer in corporate and non-profit environments and for almost a decade, she has taught typography, graphic design, and book design to college students and beyond.

Melissa opened Lizard Press in 2001 to indulge in her passion with letterpress. By combining vintage wood and lead typefaces with digital designs made into polymer plates, she prints limited edition artists books, broadsides, and ephemera on an old-fashion vandercook proof press, each one pulled by hand, from a single color run on the press to as many as eight, depending on project requirements.

Melissa’s artists books and broadsides have been exhibited throughout the United States and abroad, her work is in many public and private collections and has received 9 American Graphic Design Awards from Graphic Design USA.
